California Card Swap

I got to participate in a swap with other demonstrators hosted by my upline, the wonderful Natalie Travis, last month and I wanted to share the gorgeous cards I received.  No names or blogs were listed on the backs of the cards so I'm unable to tell you who made them.  I became a demonstrator 2 weeks before I moved from California, so I've never been able to take part in all the wonderful demonstrator events that Natalie hosts, but I do still get to send my swap cards.  Thanks, Natalie! And thanks to all the talented demonstrators who participated in this long distance swap with me!

This last one was mine which I cased, sort of, from a card on Shelli Gardner's blog www.soshelli.com.
Which one is YOUR favorite? I have four favorites! Smile!

If you've been toying with the idea of becoming a demonstrator, I would love to chat with you.  Send me an e-mail using the top link on the left.
GET THE DEMONSTRATOR KIT RIGHT NOW FOR %15 OFF (IN THE US, THAT'S $148.75 PLUS SHIPPING AND TAX FROM THE USUAL $175) AND RECEIVE AN A  FREE BONUS OF $50 IN ADDITIONAL PRODUCT.  THIS OFFER IS ONLY GOOD THROUGH MARCH 31, 2011!  This is RISK FREE!  You are under no lasting obligation to continue your demonstratorship for any length of time.
Thanks for stopping by!

Baby Blossoms Card with Springtime Vintage DSP

O.K. so my cards are all looking the same this week...sorry about that.  I don't know what happened, I just kept re-creating the same type of card, but I think I'm over it now and can move on.  Besides, I have new stuff to play with today that arrived last night in that big brown truck that I have come to love so well.
Stampin' Up! Supplies used:
Stamp Set:  Baby Blossoms (wood #121927, or clear #122000)
Ink:  Rose Red(#101778), Pear Pizzazz (#119784)
Paper:  Very Vanilla(#101650), Pear Pizzazz(#119795), Springtime Vintage DSP(#121782)
Tools:  Scalloped Edge Border punch(#119882), Extra Large Tag punch(#119866), Large Tag punch(#119876), Corner punch (#119871), Stamp-a-ma-jig(#101049)
Accessories:  Rose Red Seam binding(#121884), Linen Thread(#104199)
Take advantage of Sale-A-Bration until March 31, 2011, for every $50 in product order choose a free item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog!

Stamping Tips:
  • Use a Stamp-a-ma-jig for 2 step stamps.  You won't regret the extra effort with the precision placement you will achieve.
  • Round the corners of the card base and the patterned paper separately and then adhere.  The corner rounder is easier to use if it's only going through one layer of paper at a time.
  • To cut your ribbon ends as shown, fold your ribbon in half length wise (just pinch together) and make a diagonal cut across your fold.
  • Coordinating paper, inks, and ribbon make this card extremely pleasing and one you'll be proud to give away.  Stampin' Up! makes color coordination so EASY and REWARDING!
  • A small sentiment would easily fit on the bottom of the tag to instantly turn this card into an occasion card.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stampin' Up! Punch Bunch Welcome Baby Card

I liked yesterday's pink and yellow combination so well I had to try it again with another stamp from the same set. I was also feeling great affection for the scallop border and bow, so here's the baby card that I actually NEEDED to make.  In fact, I need two...and of course, I didn't make two at the same time!  But it's a pretty simple and quick card to make so I won't beat myself up too bad.

The Punch Bunch Stamp set is one of the FREE Sale-a-Bration sets that you can get for every $50 order!  Don't miss out!
Thanks for stopping by, I'd love to know you were here!

Stampin' Up! Punch Bunch For You Card

I sat down yesterday to CASE a card that I got from a swap recently and instead this is the card that I came up with...nothing at all like the card I had intended on casing!

The ribbon on this card was Whisper White 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon (#109025) that I colored with a Regal Rose Marker (#105108) on both sides.  It dried really quickly so this is a FAST way to color ribbon.
Major punch action on this card!  I used 5 different punches:
1 3/4 Scalloped Circle punch (#119854)
1 1/4 inch circle punch (#119861)
1 3/8 inch circle punch (#119860)
Decorative label punch (#120907-Occasions Mini Catalog 2011)
Scalloped edge border punch (#119882)
The decorative paper used was from the Brights collection of patterned paper (#117155) and the Subtles collection of patterned paper (#117152).  The colors are So Saffron and Regal Rose.
This is a standard size card (8 1/2 x 5 1/2, folded in half) and for the embossed front I added a separate embossed panel of whisper white that measures 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches).  I think embossing a separate panel makes the card sturdy and more substantial, which I prefer.  I used the embossing folder Vintage Wallpaper (#120175)
The image is from the Sale-A-Bration Set Punch Bunch (#121847).  And it's ONLY AVAILABLE FREE with a $50 purchase!  I colored the stamp with Stampin' Write markers using Regal Rose (#105108), So Saffron (#120969), Old Olive(#100079) and Basic Gray(#120966).  TIP:  When I color in large solid areas with a marker like the flowers in this stamp, I use a circular motion for applying the color so I don't get any marker "lines".
I layered all the punched shapes and adhered them to the card front with stampin' dimensionals (#104430). Then I added the pearl accent (#119247) which, I think, really finishes the card nicely.
Thanks for taking a look and I hope you enjoyed it!

Awash with Flowers and Watercolor Wonder Crayons

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wonder Crayons are finally available for purchase again.  I just got my first set.  I chose the Subtles collection because I really love soft pastel colors, but of course, I want them all.

Shop for watercolor wonder crayons here.

To create this look, I stamped the two images (flower petals and stem are separate stamps) in Staz On jet black ink on to watercolor paper that was trimmed to 2 x 3 1/4.
I colored with a watercolor wonder crayon onto a stamp case creating a palette of color.  I used my aqua pen to pick up the color off the palette and painted the flower with Rose Red.
For the stem, I used Wild Wasabi and for the shadow surrounding the flower, I used Bashful Blue.

The the second card, I first stamped the outlines of the flower and stem in Staz On jet black ink on watercolor paper.  Then, directly on the petals stamp, I colored directly on the stamp with Rose Red watercolor wonder crayon.  I used a somewhate heavy hand, as I wanted the color to be solid and intense.
Once colored, I misted the stamp with a fine spray of water (I think Ranger Mini Misters are great for this).  I made sure that the water was covering the stamp, but you don't want big pools of water either, so you may have to practice this technique as I did to get the hang of it.  Once you like the water distribution on the stamp, stamp your image over the outline.
The scrunched ribbon was done using the technique I described in this Sweet Heart Cup Valentine post.
